A lot has changed since my last post.
More than a lot.
And unless you’ve been living off the grid for the last year (at which point, you’re probably not reading this), I don’t have to delve into what’s been happening.
There’s been one bright spot among the pandemic, and that’s the plethora of livestream events that we’ve been offered. Artists from every genre are lining up to give us free concerts, readings, and performances. And now that we’re hooked, some are beginning to charge for their services — rightly so. But we’re hooked.
That goes for poetry reading livestreams. Former poet Billy Collins (who has a pretty great Masterclass on poetry over at Masterclass.com) does daily livestreams from his Facebook page.
Collins is not alone in providing poetic relief to the homebound masses. Here is a list of a few current streaming and recorded poetry events:
- Sheen Center’s Sheen Talks
- TuneIn’s Poetry Radio: Subscription-based streams, but well worth the free trial.
- Soul Food Coffeehouse Live stream archives
- Button Poetry Live
- Poets & Writers Online Events Calendar
- Poetry Foundation Events
- Poets.org Virtual Events
- Poets House Online Programs
What live/recorded events, poetry or otherwise, are you enjoying lately?
